The Model

A LOOK AT THE INQUIRY LEARNING MODEL

The Inquiry Learning Model is a method of teaching that flips the students’ responsibility from passive to engaged, active and collaborative. Based on a model Richard Suchman developed in the 1960s, it began as a method for science teaching. We have studied and expanded on the original model for use across disciplines, and are confident that you will discover the applicability and versatility of this model. The authors of these lesson plans come from disparate backgrounds (science, social studies, and special education), but we have all seen the benefits of using the Inquiry Learning Model in the 21st-century classroom.
